    In the prepared loaf pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter (part of the 1/2 cup total butter, or an extra 2 tbsp if preferred). Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar evenly over the melted butter. Arrange the slices from one ripe banana in a single layer over the sugar mixture at the bottom of the pan.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

    In a large bowl, cream together the remaining 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
